Ingredients

  • 1 beef roast, 2 to 3 pounds
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 fresh garlic clove, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon powdered mustard

Directions

  1. Mix the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, garlic, oil, and mustard to make a marinade for a roast.
  2. Pour over the roast, cover, and refrigerate at least 1 day, turning it once or twice.
  3. Broil 4 to 6 inches from the heat, about 15 minutes per side for medium-rare. Let rest 10 minutes and slice thin across the grain.
