Caramel Twists

An overnight refrigerator dough — yeast, egg yolks and scalded milk worked into a buttery flour mixture.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 3 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 cup milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm

Directions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until size of small peas.
  2. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to flour mixture along with beaten egg yolks and milk. Beat until thoroughly mixed and smooth.
  3. Cover bowl and chill in refrigerator overnight.
