Cocoa Fluff Frosting

Powdered sugar and cocoa beaten with soft butter and a whole raw egg; enough to cover two 8- or 9-inch layers.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 unbeaten egg plus enough water to measure 1/3 cup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup (2/3 stick) soft butter

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, cocoa, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add remaining ingredients. Beat at moderately high speed for 2-3 minutes.
  3. If too thick to spread easily, beat in a few drops of water.
  4. Generously frost the tops and sides of two 8 or 9 inch layer cakes.
