Where this one came from

Nobody's written this one down yet.

Ingredients

  • 2 (17 1/4 ounce) boxes frozen puff pastry
  • 1 slightly beaten egg white
  • 1 (8 ounce) can almond paste (be sure the ingredients are sugar and almond)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Directions

  1. Thaw pastry according to the directions on the box.
  2. Filling: Stir together egg white, almond paste, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Set aside.
  3. On a floured board, roll each sheet of thawed pastry into a 12 1/2 x 10 inch strip. Cut into 5 strips.
  4. Shape a slightly rounded tablespoon of filling into a 9-inch long rope. Place almond rope in the center of the strip and roll strip lengthwise. Brush edge and ends with water. Pinch to seal. Repeat with remaining dough.
  5. Brush with water and sprinkle with sugar.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool on wire racks. These can be frozen.
