Ingredients
- Fudge layer:
- 18 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- Dash of salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Mint layer:
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons green crème de menthe (or 2 tablespoons milk and 3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract and a few drops green food coloring)
Directions
- Melt chips and sweetened condensed milk over low heat or slowly in microwave. Remove from heat and stir in salt and vanilla. Allow to cool slightly.
- While fudge is cooling, prepare mint layer: in a small mixer bowl, beat 1/4 cup butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in powdered sugar alternately with the crème de menthe (or the milk, peppermint extract and food coloring). Beat until smooth. Cover and set aside.
- Pour cooled fudge onto waxed paper and roll to a 10x12 rectangle with a buttered rolling pin.
- When fudge is set, spread and fold fudge with remaining mint mixture.
- Store in refrigerator.
