Fudge Frosting

Boiled chocolate frosting made with corn syrup and shortening, held at a rolling boil one minute and cooled before spreading.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Stir over low heat until chocolate and shortening melt.
  2. Bring to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute.
  3. Remove and cool. Add vanilla.
