Sweetener substitution options for the Chocolate Cake with 39 gm. Sugar recipe: Coconut Sugar - use 1¼ cups (6 ounces); the cake will taste slightly sweeter with caramel notes, and the sugar should be ground as directed in step 1. Granulated Sugar - use ¾ cup plus 2 tablespoons (6 ounces); the cake will taste less sweet with a slightly milder flavor, and the sugar should not be ground in step 1.
