German Apple Cake

Before you start: The frosting ingredients are listed but never explained. Beat the cream cheese with the melted butter, then work in the powdered sugar, and spread it on the cooled cake.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 to 1 cup nuts
  • 4 cups thinly sliced apples
  • Frosting:
  • 2 small (3 ounce) packages cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Directions

  1. Make a well in the flour and mix in the eggs, oil, sugar, vanilla, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nuts with a spoon.
  2. Mix in the thinly sliced apples.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
