Before you start: The pastry isn't part of this list, so you'll need a double crust of your own. The milk drizzled over the top crust isn't listed either; a spoonful is plenty.

Where this one came from

Nobody's written this one down yet.

Ingredients

  • 6 ½ cups apples, for a 9-inch pie (or 8 cups apples for a 10-inch pie)
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Dash of salt
  • 1 ½ cups sugar (Kim uses 2 cups, heaping, in a 10-inch pie)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, placed on top of the filling under the crust

Directions

  1. Cook apples 4 minutes in the microwave on high before putting into the crust.
  2. On the top crust, sprinkle sugar and drizzle milk over with your fingers - it gives the top a very nice appearance.
  3. Foil the edges and bake at 425 degrees for 50 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes.
